The Welleo Lateral Flow Reader is a compact, reusable device designed to digitally read lateral flow tests and transform visual lines into reliable data. Used with the Welleo app or software, it analyzes test and control line intensity to deliver clear qualitative or quantitative results, reducing subjectivity and improving consistency.

Intended use
Photometric analyzer for lateral flow assay intended for professional healthcare use. It enables qualification, semi-quantification and/or quantification of the intensity of test and control lines on lateral flow strips for in vitro diagnostics. The scope of the samples analyzed and the target population are defined by the diagnostic kit manufacturer. The integration of the Welleo lateral flow reader with the lateral flow strip is not within the scope of this product. Quantification of the analyte to be analyzed is the responsibility of the diagnostic kit manufacturer. The device is manually operated, reusable, and powered by an internal battery rechargeable via a USB-C port.
Measuring principle
The Welleo lateral flow reader integrates a light source and a multi-channel light sensor, enabling qualitative, semi-quantitative, or quantitative measurement of control and test lines on a lateral flow strip.
The reader connects wirelessly to a mobile app or PC. The lateral flow strip is manually inserted and removed when prompted by the app. Data captured by the reader is sent by the app to the cloud for processing. The results obtained are returned to the app.

The device must be stored and transported under the following environmental conditions:

Quality control
There is a quality control (QC) procedure implemented in the app to ensure that the device maintains its functionality throughout its useful life. The QC kit will be stored inside the packaging for proper maintenance. In case of damage to the QC kit, contact your distributor.
Quality control is enabled in the ""Profile"" section, QC button. The app will ask the user to scan the QR code on the QC kit, then connect the device, insert the QC kit into the reader until it touches the back of the tunnel, and then press the QC Check button. The device will perform some internal checks lasting about 5 seconds, and then the results (PASS or FAIL) will be displayed on the screen. If the result is FAIL, the device shall not be used.
WIRELESS UPDATE The device has built-in functionality for firmware over-the-air update (FUOTA). This feature is available in the ""Profile"" section, Check for Updates button. The device will only be updated if there is a more recent firmware version available than the one installed. The status of the update process will be displayed on the screen and once completed the user will be notified.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS The reader measures the intensity of test and control lines on the lateral flow test to measure the analyte levels specified in the diagnostic kit. It is advisable to confirm results using a liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) test.
Warnings and precautions
- For accurate results, the instructions for use must be followed.
- For proper use of the diagnostic kit, refer to the specific instructions for use.
- Clean the reader according to the instructions specified below.
- Do not use the reader if it is visibly damaged.
- Always perform tests under the indicated environmental conditions.
- Do not use the reader near strong electromagnetic fields.
- Do not attempt to open the reader housing.
- Handle the device with care and avoid drops from heights greater than 1 meter.
- Follow local authority guidelines for disposing of the device.
- The device is reusable.
- If the device is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to restart the system.
- The device complies with requirements for a pollution degree 2 contamination level; do not expose it to higher degrees of contamination.
- The device has a useful life of 5,000 readings. The user is responsible for the use of the device after this time.
- Wear gloves when handling the reader.
- The device must be used indoors.
- The device's degree of waterproofing is IPX0.
- The device can be used up to 4,000 m above sea level.
- For waste collection, the disposal instructions given by the legal manufacturer of the diagnostic kit must be followed.
- If the quality control procedure fails, the device shall not be used further.
- Check if the QC kit has no visible damage or deformations. If so, contact your distributor.
- Make sure to store the QC kit in its bag inside the provided box after each use.
- For the corresponding test reaction time, refer to the instructions for use of the diagnostic kit.
- In case of any inconvenience with the test, replace it with a new test.
- Ultraviolet light is present; keep the internal part of the device away from sight during operation.
- Use only the accessories recommended for use with the device.
- In case of device malfunction, contact your distributor.
